Everything you need to know about ordering, sizing, shipping to the UK, returns, payments and your rights as a customer of Valerive — answered plainly, by the people who actually run the shop. If you can't find what you're looking for below, we reply to every email within five hours, day or night.
Getting your order from us to your door
We currently ship exclusively to addresses in the United Kingdom. Here's exactly how an order moves, what it costs, and what to do if something looks off.
Yes. Every order shipped to a UK address qualifies for free standard shipping, with no minimum spend and no hidden delivery fee added at checkout.
At present we ship only to addresses within the United Kingdom. We don't yet offer checkout or delivery to the Netherlands, the rest of the EU, or anywhere else — we'd rather do one market properly than several markets badly.
Valerive is designed and run by S Commerce from Nieuwegein, the Netherlands. Your order is manufactured, quality-checked and dispatched by our international fulfilment partners, before travelling to your UK address. We're telling you this plainly because we'd rather you know exactly how your order reaches you than assume it comes from a local warehouse.
Orders placed before 11:00 PM, Monday to Friday, Central European Time (CET/CEST), enter processing the same day. Anything placed after that cut-off, or over a weekend, moves into processing on the next working day.
Standard order processing takes 1–2 business days (Monday–Friday). During major sales events such as our seasonal offers, or over public holidays, processing can occasionally run slightly longer while our fulfilment partners catch up on volume.
Standard free shipping to the UK takes 6–8 business days from dispatch. Combined with processing, most customers should expect their order roughly 7–10 business days after placing it. These are estimates rather than guaranteed dates — customs handling, carrier congestion or severe weather can occasionally push delivery slightly later.
Once your order leaves our fulfilment partner, you'll receive an email with a tracking number. You can follow its journey any time on our Track My Order page. Please allow a day or two after dispatch for the tracking record to populate.
Where duties or taxes apply to your UK order, these are calculated and collected upfront at checkout, so the price you pay is the price you owe. You should not be asked to pay the same charges again on delivery. If a carrier ever contacts you for an unexpected additional payment, please forward it to us straight away at support@valerive.com so we can look into it.
Email support@valerive.com with your order number and we'll open an investigation with the relevant carrier or fulfilment partner. If a parcel is confirmed lost in transit, we will agree a replacement or a refund with you once that investigation concludes — you won't be left out of pocket while we look into it.
Because orders enter our fulfilment process quickly, we can only sometimes amend an address. Email us the moment you spot an error and we'll try to correct it before dispatch. Once an order has shipped, we generally can't guarantee a redirect, so please double-check your address at checkout.
Changed your mind, or something's not right?
Our 30-day return window is more generous than the statutory minimum, and we set it up so you always know exactly what to do and when your money is coming back.
You may request a return within 30 calendar days of receiving your order, for any reason, including simply changing your mind. To qualify, the item must be unused, unworn and unwashed, in its original condition, with any original tags still attached, and returned with its original packaging where applicable.
Email support@valerive.com before sending anything back, with your order number, the item you'd like to return, and your reason. Once we've approved the request, we'll send you the correct return address and instructions.
Please don't send a parcel back to the address on your delivery packaging or to any address other than the one our team gives you — approved returns are sent to a designated return facility rather than our head office.
For a standard return, including a change of mind, the customer covers the cost of return postage, using a service of their choice, and should keep proof of postage until the return is confirmed as received.
If your item arrived damaged, defective, incorrect, or materially different from how it was described, Valerive covers the return shipping cost instead — that's on us, not you.
Once your returned item arrives and passes inspection, we process the refund within 10 business days, and generally sooner. Your refund goes back to the original payment method used at checkout — how long it then takes to appear in your account depends on your bank or card issuer, which is outside our control.
We don't currently offer a direct swap. If you need a different size, colour or style, please return your original item under this policy and place a new order for the item you'd prefer — that way you're not waiting on stock to move between orders.
Contact us as soon as you spot the problem, at support@valerive.com. We'll usually ask for a clear photo or short video of the item and the issue so we can resolve it quickly. Depending on the circumstances, we'll offer a refund or a replacement, and we cover the return shipping cost in every one of these situations. Please wait for our instructions before posting anything back.
Yes, provided your order hasn't been dispatched yet. Email support@valerive.com as soon as possible with your order number, and we'll cancel it and refund you in full. If it's already shipped by the time we see your message, you can still return it under our standard 30-day policy once it arrives.
No — our 30-day goodwill return window sits alongside, and exceeds, the 14-day cancellation right you're given under the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 for goods bought online. Separately, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if a dress you receive is faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality, you may have a short-term right to reject it for a full refund (normally within 30 days of delivery), and longer-term rights to a repair, replacement or partial refund after that. Nothing in our Refund Policy limits or replaces these legal rights — see our full Return & Refund Policy for the complete terms.
Finding your fit and looking after your dress
Every dress at Valerive is made to move and to last. Here's how to choose your size with confidence and keep your pieces looking their best.
Our dresses are cut for a figure-flattering fit, but exact sizing varies slightly by fabric and style, so always check the Size Guide on the individual product page before ordering. As a general rule: fitted styles with little stretch tend to size up more comfortably, while dresses in stretch fabrics can usually be sized down for a more sculpted silhouette.
If you're between two sizes, email support@valerive.com with your measurements and the style you're considering, and our team will recommend the better fit.
Most of our maxi, midi and mini dresses are available from XS through to XL. Exact availability can vary slightly by style and colourway, so please check the size selector on each individual product page for what's currently in stock.
Most Valerive styles are fully lined for comfortable, opaque coverage. Certain fabrics — chiffon and lace styles such as our Acia Lace Dress or Fairy Maxi Dress in particular — include intentional sheer panels or overlay detail as part of the design. The product description on each listing tells you which applies before you buy.
Depending on the style, our dresses use lightweight, breathable printed fabrics for warm-weather pieces like the Zirella Summer Dress, soft stretch blends for figure-following maxi and midi silhouettes, and detailed lace or velvet for occasion-led styles such as the Fiona Velvet Dress. The exact fabric composition and care instructions are listed on each product page and on the garment's own care label.
Because fabrics vary from lightweight prints to velvet and lace, always follow the care symbols on the label sewn into your garment — that's the most accurate guide for that specific piece. As a general precaution, we recommend a gentle cold wash or hand wash for delicate or embellished styles, and avoiding a hot tumble dryer on anything with lace, sequins or velvet pile.
That's exactly what our 30-day return window is for. As long as the dress is unworn, unwashed and still has its tags attached, you can return it for a refund under our standard Return & Refund Policy — see Category 2 above for the full process.
Paying securely, and knowing exactly what you'll be charged
Checkout runs entirely on Shopify's own secure infrastructure. Valerive never sees or stores your full card details.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Maestro debit and credit cards, along with Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay for a faster, saved-details checkout.
Yes. Checkout is hosted and encrypted by Shopify, one of the world's largest e-commerce platforms, and processed under PCI DSS-compliant payment infrastructure. Valerive never receives or stores your full card number — payment details pass directly and securely between you, the payment network, and Shopify.
All prices on Valerive are displayed in Pounds Sterling (£). Delivery is free on every UK order, and any applicable duties or taxes for eligible orders are calculated and shown to you at checkout before you pay — so the total on your confirmation email is the total you owe, with no delivery surcharge added afterwards.
During our current promotion, adding more eligible items to your bag unlocks an automatic discount: 10% off for 2 items, 15% off for 3 items, and 20% off for 4 or more. The discount is calculated and applied automatically in your cart — there's no code to enter.
Who you're actually buying from, and the laws that protect you
Valerive is a Dutch-registered company selling to UK customers, so we've written this section to be transparent about both.
Valerive is a trading name of S Commerce, a company registered in the Netherlands under Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 78609437 and VAT number NL003351754B26, with a registered address at Wijde Wade 4-89, 3439 NP Nieuwegein, the Netherlands. S Commerce is the merchant of record for every order placed on valerive.com.
Because valerive.com is aimed at, and sells exclusively to, customers in the United Kingdom, the protections you're used to as a UK shopper apply to your order: the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described), the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (pre-contract information and cancellation rights), and the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, which governs how we present pricing, discounts and reviews.
As a company registered and established in the Netherlands, S Commerce is separately bound by Dutch and EU rules on distance selling, consumer protection and unfair commercial practices under the Burgerlijk Wetboek (Dutch Civil Code) and the EU Consumer Rights Directive. Where these frameworks differ, nothing in our policies limits or reduces the rights you hold as a UK consumer under UK law.
We describe every dress in plain, specific language — fabric, fit, lining, sleeve length and styling occasion — rather than generic marketing copy, and each listing shows multiple genuine product photographs from different angles. Because monitor and phone screens display colour slightly differently, small variations in tone between photo and garment can occur; if a product ever arrives materially different from its description, that's covered under Category 2 as a "not as described" return.
No. Shopify is the e-commerce platform that hosts our website and powers our checkout, but Valerive is independently owned and operated by S Commerce. S Commerce is solely responsible for our products, pricing, customer service and policies.
What we do with your information
S Commerce is the data controller for anything you share with Valerive, whether that's placing an order or emailing support.
To process your order we collect contact details (name, delivery and billing address, email, phone), transaction information (what you've bought, browsed or added to your basket), and payment confirmation details from our processor. We also collect device and usage information to keep the site secure and working properly. Full detail on every category, why we collect it and who we share it with is set out in our Privacy Policy.
As a UK-based customer of a Netherlands-registered controller, you're protected by both UK GDPR and, given S Commerce's EU establishment, the EU GDPR. You can ask us to let you access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data, and to receive a portable copy of it, by emailing support@valerive.com. Where we rely on your consent — for marketing emails, for example — you can withdraw that consent at any time.
Yes, at any time, using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email we send, or by emailing support@valerive.com. You'll still receive essential, non-promotional emails relating to an order you've placed, such as dispatch and delivery updates.
Please raise it with us first at support@valerive.com so we can put it right. If you remain unsatisfied, UK residents may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, and as S Commerce is established in the Netherlands, you may alternatively contact the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
