Shipping Policy
Every dress you order is produced by our manufacturing partner in China and shipped directly to your door in the United Kingdom. This page explains exactly when we dispatch, who carries your parcel, how long it takes, what it costs (nothing for shipping itself), and what your legal rights and responsibilities are along the way as a Netherlands-registered company selling internationally sourced goods to UK customers.
Valerive is a trading name of S Commerce, a company registered in the Netherlands. S Commerce is who you contract with, who takes your payment, and who you should contact with any question about your order — but the dresses themselves are produced and held by our manufacturing partner in China, who packs and ships every order directly to your UK address on our behalf.
We want this to be clear before you buy, not something you discover from a customs label: because your parcel is shipped from outside the United Kingdom, it is treated as an import when it arrives, which is why Section 6 of this page explains customs duties and import VAT in detail.
At checkout, valerive.com currently accepts delivery addresses in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland only. We do not yet ship to the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, BFPO addresses, or any destination outside the United Kingdom, including our own home market of the Netherlands.
If your delivery address falls outside the United Kingdom, our checkout will not let the order proceed — this is deliberate, not a fault. We would rather be upfront that we don't yet serve your country than accept an order we cannot fulfil. We hope to add further destinations in future, and this page will be updated the day that changes.
Our daily order cut-off is 11:00 PM (GMT+01:00) Central European Time, Monday to Friday. Orders placed before that time on a business day begin processing immediately; orders placed after the cut-off, or on a Saturday, Sunday, or a Dutch public holiday, are treated as received on the next business day.
Processing takes 1–2 business days: this is the time we spend checking your order, picking your dress from stock, quality-checking it and preparing your parcel for collection. Processing time is separate from transit time in Section 4 — please add both together when working out your realistic delivery date.
| If you order | We treat it as received | Processing begins |
|---|---|---|
| Monday–Friday, before 11:00 PM CET | Same business day | Same or next business day |
| Monday–Friday, after 11:00 PM CET | Next business day | Within 1–2 business days of that date |
| Saturday, Sunday, or a Dutch public holiday | Next business day | Within 1–2 business days of that date |
We currently offer one shipping method: free standard UK shipping on every order, regardless of order value. Once your parcel leaves our fulfilment partner's facility, transit typically takes 6–8 business days (Monday–Friday, excluding UK and Dutch public holidays) to reach a UK address.
Adding processing and transit together, most orders arrive within 7–10 business days of being placed. This is a typical range rather than a guarantee — during exceptionally busy periods such as sale events, or where a carrier experiences delays outside our control, delivery may occasionally take longer, and we will always tell you if we expect that to happen to your order.
Free Standard Shipping — the only method available at checkout, applied automatically to every UK order.
£0.00. There is no minimum spend requirement and no hidden handling fee added at checkout — the price you see is the price you pay.
Items ordered together are shipped together in a single parcel wherever possible, so you receive one tracking link, not several.
Our fulfilment partner hands every parcel to established international logistics providers for the journey from China to the UK, with a UK-based carrier completing final-mile delivery to your address. Depending on your location and parcel size, your order may be shipped and delivered by carriers such as YunExpress, 4PX, China Post, DHL, DPD, Evri, or Royal Mail. Whichever combination of carriers is used, you will receive a single tracking link by email as soon as your parcel is dispatched — see Section 7.
Every dress is folded or hung with care, protected with tissue or a garment bag as appropriate to the fabric, and shipped in a poly mailer or box sized to the order, so it arrives ready to wear rather than creased in transit.
Your dress is shipped directly from our supplier in China, so your parcel is legally treated as an import when it reaches the UK border. The price you pay at checkout covers your item and free shipping only — it does not include any UK import VAT, customs duty, or the carrier's handling fee for processing the import, and none of these are collected by Valerive or S Commerce at the point of sale.
This means HMRC or the delivery carrier may contact you directly to collect import VAT (currently 20% of the item's value for most clothing), and potentially customs duty, before or at the point your parcel is delivered. Whether a charge applies, and how much it is, depends on the value of your order and current HMRC thresholds and rates at the time it arrives, which are set by the UK government and outside our control. By placing an order, you agree that you are the "importer of record" for your parcel and are responsible for paying any such charge the carrier or HMRC applies.
We know this matters to you, so we want to be completely upfront about it here rather than let it come as a surprise. If you have any question about how this might apply to your order before you buy, email us at support@valerive.com and we'll do our best to help you understand what to expect.
As soon as your order is handed to a carrier, we email you a shipping confirmation containing your tracking number and a direct tracking link. You can also check the status of any order at any time using our Track Your Order page — just enter your order number and the email address you used at checkout.
Tracking updates are provided by the carrier handling your parcel and may take up to 24 hours to appear after dispatch. If your tracking hasn't updated for more than 3 business days, contact us and we'll chase it with the carrier on your behalf.
If nobody is available to receive your parcel, the carrier will normally leave a card with instructions to rearrange delivery, redirect it to a local collection point, or hold it at a depot for a limited period. If a parcel is returned to us as undeliverable because it was not collected in time, we will contact you to arrange re-delivery or a refund, whichever you prefer.
If your order is marked as delivered but you haven't received it, or your tracking shows no movement for more than 10 business days after dispatch, please contact us within 30 days of the expected delivery date so we can open an investigation with the carrier. Where a parcel is confirmed lost in transit, we will send a free replacement or issue a full refund, at your choice.
If your parcel arrives visibly damaged, please photograph the packaging before opening it if possible, and contact us within 48 hours of delivery. As explained in our Return & Refund Policy, transit damage is treated as a fault of ours, not yours — we cover the full cost of putting it right.
Address entered incorrectly at checkout? Email us the moment you notice — if your order hasn't yet been dispatched, we can usually correct it before it ships. Once a parcel has left our fulfilment partner's facility, we cannot guarantee a mid-transit address change, but we will always do what we can with the carrier.
Under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 (section 29), unless we agree a specific delivery date with you, goods must be delivered without undue delay and, in any event, within 30 days of your order being placed — and until your parcel is delivered into your possession, the risk of loss or damage in transit remains ours, not yours. As a Netherlands-established seller, the equivalent Dutch rule under Burgerlijk Wetboek Boek 7, Article 7:9, applies in parallel: delivery must take place within 30 days unless otherwise agreed, and risk passes to you as the consumer only once the goods are actually delivered.
Our own 6–8 business day transit target is set well inside that 30-day legal maximum. If we ever expect a specific order to genuinely exceed 30 days from the order date, UK and Dutch law both give you the right to cancel that order for a full refund, and we will proactively let you know so you can decide whether to wait or cancel.
We hope you never need to go beyond emailing us about a delivery, but you always have the right to. If a shipping or delivery dispute isn't resolved to your satisfaction, you can seek independent advice or raise a complaint through the following bodies.
Contact Citizens Advice for free, independent guidance on your consumer rights, or report the matter to Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice consumer service.
The Autoriteit Consument & Markt (ACM) provides consumer guidance through ACM ConsuWijzer at acm.nl, and is the competent authority for e-commerce consumer protection matters concerning S Commerce.
